In the first competition, the Ladies’ Prize, the top position was taken by Corporal H. Moody, with 89 points, and the second by Private C. Mannings, a last year’s recruit, with 86. Miss M.D. Smith, Henfield, proved to be the lady subscriber whose champion obtained the highest score, and she was awarded the prize given accordingly. In the second competition, the Inhabitants’ Prize, the first prize was carried off by Sergeant C.A. Woolgar, with 79 points, Corporal Moody being next up with 72. In the volley firing Sergeant Reeves’s squad was first and Sergeant Woolgar’s squad second.

HORSHAM VOLUNTEERS AT STEYNING

The E Co. (Horsham) 2nd V.B. Royal Sussex Regiment held their Annual Sectional firing practice on the Steyning Range on Whit Monday. The weather was distinctly unfavourable, heavy showers accompanied by strong gusty winds making good shooting impossible. About 60 members attended, and on arrival on the range at once proceeded with the practices. The best section proved to be No. 2 (Sergt. G. W. Flint’s) with a percentage of hits to shots fired of just over 50. No. 3 section (Sergt. T. Leaney’s) was second with a percentage of 32. No. 1 section (Col.-Sergt. G.W.
